The Dynamic Door System

In a dynamic building system we could see a door as a complete, pre made element. It then would be an item which can not be changed, other than by remanufacturing in the factory.

This section investigates the idea that a door could be made, build up of standardized components, so it would be changeable.In this door building system I see a door as consisting of a frame and an infill. The frame is standard, the infill is custom. All parts should be pre made and provided through building market/hardware stores.

The connection between the elements should be reversible so you could change your door or recycle it.

The picture shows a model made in scale 1:10. On the left is the standard frame. On the right are the elements. The top part of the frame can be removed to allow elements te be put in.

The elements are added to make the custom door.

The number of elements is limited, but by placing them in different ways, an almost infinite number of combinations is possible.

By closing the top part of the frame, the door is ready.

Manufacturers should produce several sets of elements to accommodate to several styles.
